Manual introduction translated to english #2

Hey @pseguy,

I've started translating the DAMS manual to english. Here, I've included only the Introduction (the rest is not ready yet).

My idea is to fully translate one or two sections per week; if you prefer me to send you the whole thing when it is ready, feel free to close this PR.
