Disable option: Events --> Auto-open new messages
Disable option: Application --> Use "double-click" style (like ICQ)
Close the contact list
Close all open chat windows
Get a new message
Click on the tray icon (single click) to read the new message

With a single click on the tray icon, the new message should be shown (message window should be opened)

the contact list will be opened and i have to select the user that send me the message in order to read the message
