excerpt from a evaluation feedback regarding the first run of this workshop in March 2017

Suggestions: It would be nice to provide the first two lesson (2nd first) just as basic lessons to people who need it (learning to use the terminal, local and remote). More advanced people could join after this session. I did not clearly get the point of using MPI (which advantages compared to the parallelized version?) Would be nice to get more insight how to build an ’optimal’ submission for an application (which parameters ob bsub/srun/sbatch are relevant, e.g. many small jobs versus a few big jobs / which queue to use / ...) A nice to have: Collection of relevant packages, libraries for different languages (R, Java, ...), also for profiling these kind of applications - just as a simple table as a starting point for self-study
