Geospatial Data: Diving into Library Resources and beyond Description: This session will provide an overview of geospatial data available from library databases, PolicyMap, SimplyAnalytics, Social Explorer, and Data-Planet. Additional United States and International organizations will be highlighted from maps and geospatial guides, and related resources to guide the user in locating geospatial data relevant to multiple disciplines. Software will be referenced in terms of options for using geospatial data, both commercial and open source options. These web-based mapping platforms enable the user to use, visualize, and create map outputs in multiple formats. Each product has data unique to the platform and multiple display options. This workshop will consist of a series of presentation slides highlighting the key features, data sources, and display capabilities of each mapping application. Following the presentation materials, participants will complete a hands-one portion to gain experience navigating each application. Participants are encouraged to create a map using each application at the end of the session. Learning Outcomes: • Navigation of SimplyAnalytics, PolicyMap, and Social Explorer • Understanding of the process to select and display data • Understanding of where to locate information on data sources • General symbology of map outcome possibilities • Understanding of map and graphic output export and sharing options
