This session provides an overview of GIS concepts relevant to applying geospatial components in projects. This session will provide an introduction to geospatial data, introductory topics of projects, data manipulation, and geoprocessing techniques Learning Outcomes: • Learners will be able identify characteristics of common GIS formats • Learners will be able to execute search strategies for GIS data • Learners will be able to critically evaluate geospatial metadata • Learners will be able to consider the connection of GIS concepts to current research interests • Learners will be able to apply GIS concepts to navigation of spatial applications
