As part of here Data Management Plan Pearl Daugherty needs to describe how she will license her data. While she is fine with sharing, she doesn't understand why she needs to explicitly license it. She remembers, when submitting a manuscript to Scholarsphere, there being a field, which she left at the default value. Now that she is working on more collaborative projects, she also understands that these decisions also affect other members of her team. She would like to be able to be able to do a better job at this, understand what she is doing and make more informed decisions.
This could include for others issues of patents. For instance if I patent a product from my research, am I violating my NSF requirement to be open?
