Undergrad working with a faculty researcher on a project to identify vernal pools in the ridge and valley province has done a lot of field work verifying and documenting known vernal pool locations, but seeks a data-driven way to limit their landscape search for new locations.
The spatial scale and timing of the imagery that they require is such that free sources are not an option. The spectral resolution that they require for classification is also not readily available from free sources.
They also wish to try a terrain-based modeling approach to compliment an image classification approach.
The student has descent ArcGIS skills and the above tasks also require other softwares and proprietary datasets.
