A phd student in entomology is running a short 1yr project to develop best management practices for a fly that is a pest in mushroom farms of southeastern PA. She has the postal addresses of farms that have agreed to participate in the study and needs to map those and then derive explanatory variables from readily available spatial data sources like vegetation cover, soil type and time since the last rain event.
