Two upper classmen undergraduate students are tired of doing class projects that serve only to appease their professors. They want to build an educational and interactive web-map that will track deforestation in the Amazon river basin in near real-time to raise awareness among laypeople about this social and environmental issue.

They need the following: a continuous source of data that can detect deforestation; automated ways of pulling and processing the data; a tool that supports web-mapping.
