Adobe forum sign in issue with Quite RSS browser only #700

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
For the last few days I have been unable to sign in to Adobe forums using Quite
RSS's browser. I can sign in using external browsers but in Quite RSS I get
certificate warnings which I accept but nonetheless sign in fails.

I note the installed version is at 0.17.3 whereas the portable version is one
behind at 0.17.2. I wonder if the version difference is certificate related and
the cause of the problem?

Are you planning to update soon please?

I have checked the installed version of 0.17.3 allows me to log in OK so that
would fix the problem. However, I cannot see how to upgrade from 0.17.2 so that
0.17.3 accesses my kept and flagged posts. All I can do is import the same
feeds, not the old data.

Is there a way to upgrade rather then replace the installation please?

Try to use the official portable version: http://quiterss.org/en/download
Copy the files from the "Z:/PortableApps/QuiteRSSPortable/App/QuiteRSS" in the
directory of the unpacked application

So I unpacked the 0.17.3 portable version from Quite RSS and then copied the
App folder into it. That does not give me my old feeds or posts so I think I
have not followed what you mean. I also tried copying Data and Other in but no
difference.

0.17.3 does not have the problem reported if new feeds are added but losing the
old data is a road block for me. Is there a solution to that please?

Send a copy of your application by PortableApps

The zip is 33MB and the maximum upload is 10mb. Is there some other way to get
this to you?

Egor
I could not test until now. 0.17.3 updates OK and displays the posts in the
internal browser. However, when I click the Sign In link it progresses to 69%
and then eventually reports that QuiteRSS is not responding.
I will try again later today on a different network.
I appreciate your help.
Peter

I have now been able to try on other networks. When I click a link in the
heading of a post when viewing in the internal browser, the page starts to
display but always fails to load completely. If I click the Windows Close
button top right, QuiteRSS then reports Not Responding.

Number 1 shows the text and the link. When I click the link the post shows in
the internal browser (see 2) but it fails to load to 100% as shown in 3.

I'm confused now Egor. That appears to be a blank version and I know that the
download of 0.17.3 from QuiteRSS works OK. I would be happy to change from the
one from PortableAppps to the official QuiteRSS portable version but want to
retain my old posts.
If it is possible to transfer some files from the PortableApps version to the
official version, I can do that but I don't know what files are required. I
tried early on in this thread and failed.

Transfer "database file" and "setting file" to "application directory".
All of these path you can find at Main Menu->Help->About->Information.

I came here to follow your instructions and found you had done it for me. Thank
you for that kindness.
Unfortunately I still have the same problem with the pages failing to complete
loading so I'm thinking the Portable Apps version must have some database or
settings difference.
I need to retain the old posts but it might be easier to simply retain two
versions, one as an archive and one with the official version going forward.
Thank you so much for all that you have done trying to fix this.
