Description of change:

Reason for change: Various morphological, cytological, and molecular characters have enabled the distinction of two species groups within the genus Struthiopteris: the S. spicant group and the S. niponica group. In addition, it has been discovered that the genus Blechnidium is paraphyletic with respect to Struthiopteris, and that Spicantopsis hancockii is a sister species of Struthiopteris.
