Name and rank of taxon: Genus Brownseya Li Bing Zhang, L.D.Sheph., D.K.Chen, X.M.Zhou & H.He
Approximate number of species affected: 1
Description of change: This genus of lycophytes was created by Chen et al (2022) after performing a phylogeny of the family Lycopodiaceae based on seven chloroplastic markers. In the article combine Brownseya serpentina (Kunze) Li Bing Zhang, L.D.Sheph., D.K.Chen, X.M.Zhou & H.He (= Lycopodiella serpentina (Kunze) B.Øllg.), but indicate that the genus may have 2-4 species.
Reason for change: In this publication they found that the species Lycopodiella serpentina was not part of the Lycopodiella clade, but was placed as sister to Palhinhaea. They considered that it could not be part of this genus because of the profound molecular divergence and notable morphological differences, so a new genus was proposed.
@Sonimomi this looks great, thanks for trying out the system! Just one comment: if there are no other issues related to this one, please just say "none". The # is used to link to specific issues, e.g. #2.
