Recognition of the nothogenus × Abacopterella T.E.Almeida & A.R.Field, a taxon of hybrid origin with parentage originating from species of Abacopteris Fée and Christella H.Lév.
Reason for change
Since nothogenera are to be recognized in PPG II, we propose the inclusion of the nothogenus × Abacopterella T.E.Almeida & A.R.Field, which includes the nothospecies × Abacopterella altifrons T.E.Almeida & A.R.Field (Abacopteris aspera (C.Presl) Ching × Christella queenslandica (Holttum) A.R.Field & Z.Bloesch).
Both nothotaxa were described based on robust phylogenomic evidence (Bloesch et al. 2022, Almeida et al. 2023), and both Abacopteris and Christella are recognized in the current Thelypteridaceae classification (Fawcett and Smith 2021, Fawcett et al. 2021).
