Hi all - a quick comment/support -- With Julia Hobbie and others we have a manuscript in prep. that corroborates what Ran says: the athyriids comprise five strongly supported subclades (Ephemeropteris, (Anisocampium, ((Pseudathyrium, Cornopteris), Athyrium s.str.)). There are some discrepancies in earlier papers about the Ephemeropteris/Anisocampium, but that was due to a sequence mix-up.
This proposal was voted on during PPG Ballot 4 (voting period October 2023). A total of 60 votes were cast. There were 54 'Yes' votes (90%) and 6 'No' votes (10%). The proposal passes.

Description of change
Resurrection of Pseudathyrium to keep Cornopteris and Athyrium monophyletic.
Reason for change
Morphologically, Pseudathyrium is characterized by the glabrous leaf axes and caducous indusia, which is distinct from typical Cornopteris species with hairy leaf axes and exindusiate sori, and also most Athyrium species with persistent indusia. According to molecular evidence, Pseudathyrium is the sister group to Cornopteris, and the resurrection of the former will keep both Cornopteris and Athyrium monophyletic.
