According to PPG I, the recognition of subfam. Polypodioideae. The separation of subfam. Campyloneuroideae, Adetogrammoideae, and Serpocauloideae will keep subfam. Polypodioideae monophyletic, which is further supported by diagnostic characters in morphology.
