Refine this list to the features we are confident can be incorporated into the app. Additional potential features can be found in sections 2 and 3 at: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1C7MvifylMQVZvXoiJ3Sn9ijIEIJhXDK1NJuSH6sSKOc/edit

  1. Control the phone’s own camera

    a. take a photo every x seconds b. capture photos at full resolution c. use shutter priority (shutter speed stays the same, f-stop varies) d. exposure compensation (e.g., underexpose each image by -2/3 stop) e. lock focus on infinity f. bracket each photo (+/- x f-stops) g. switch to video after a preset time period, and then switch back to stills h. disable image stabilization i. record data in the EXIF header of the jpeg images

    1. GPS (xyz) coordinates
    2. Accelerometer data: pitch, yaw, roll
    3. Rate and direction of motion while shutter was open
    4. Temperature (phone’s internal thermometer?)
    5. Atmospheric pressure
    6. External sensors

    j. Respond to sensor data

    1. take a photo only when the phone is not moving much
    2. change the shutter speed preset as a function of motion
    3. change the shutter speed preset as a function of light
    4. Pause shooting if light drops below a threshold
    5. Change ISO if light drops below a threshold

I broke the most basic items in this list -- the very first features such an app would require -- up into separate issues: https://github.com/publiclab/MAAAAPP/issues?milestone=1&state=open
