Many more manufacturers needed in first survey question #74

Here is the best list of manufactures that I could find: http://changingears.com/rv-sec-manufacturers-sort-manuf.shtml?sort=manuf&alpha=a&type=all

just those in the Manufacturer column, there are too many brands. Should there also be an other field for this Q?

Also examples of models as you ask for in the predictive text in the next question are in that link as well. The most common FEMA trailer was "Cavalier" so maybe one other mobile home and RV from that list.

(lots a old people living in RV's in walmart parking lots. distraction link as apology for boring data entry issue: http://www.highplainsfilms.org/hpf/films/this_is_nowhere )

Some rich irony there with the concern for proximity to shopping and walkability.

OK, just to clarify, 'Manufacturer' from that table is for the question, "What make is your housing unit?" Should we turn that drop down into a text input with autocomplete?

"What model is your housing unit?" corresponds to the brand column?

Thanks!

Yup! That's right.

In terms of autocomplete, that sounds good if its not too costly in time, as the list will get a bit unwieldy if it stays in a drop down. That being said, I do worry that users will not be used to auto complete. My parents have had smart phones for two years and still cannot figure out how autocomplete works on their phones. So if it could be done in a novice web user friendly way than I'm all for autocomplete.

Ok, thanks.

I also wonder if there is better wording to distinguish the questions "What make is your housing unit?" and "What model is your housing unit?". I wonder if rewording to "What manufacturer..." for the first one might be clearer?

I totally agree. Thanks for that!
