Remove the metaboxes (or update to match the new Gutenberg style) #1747

Compare the Planner metaboxes to the Future metabox. Maybe we don't need the Notifications metabox any more? Screenshot 2024-08-27 at 3 18 40 PM

@stevejburge Future plugin is using Gutenberg Blocks while Planner is still using Metabox from classic editor. So, unless we decided to transfer these metabox to blocks, the icons will always be different but wondering if difference in icons really worth the time we need to create blocks of these metaboxes?

If we're removing notifications metabox cos of difference in icons only, what happen to Editorial Field metabox, we remove it too?

@olatechpro Can we move those a legacy status, so they don't show for new installs?

olatechpro commented 1 month ago

@stevejburge We currently don't have anything legacy settings in planner.

So, to confirm what you mean:

  1. We should add new settings in both Editorial Fields settings and Notification fields settings that reads "Enable Metabox" which is disabled by default for new installation?
  2. OR We should simply remove both metabox for new installation? I'm not sure this is a good idea especially for Editorial Fields

@olatechpro Closer to option 1, please.

The Editorial Fields box will show only if they are enabled.

The Notifications box could be a setting.
