From the pubnub IRC channel, I gather that there's some sort of streamy always-live connection approach to getting data from pubnub that seems more appealing than repeatedly querying (even if it's long-pollish). I may be misunderstanding, though?

Yes, there is a new a stream option that sends chunks. I plan to move the client to use it soon.
