Improve look and feel. #12

While #11 was crudely solved by setting QWidget's bg color to gray, the style of the app is quite inconsistent on Linux.

some fonts are black, some are white, leading to mediocre contrast
gray background behind the plots again gives bad contrast. Black would be preferred

I'd prefer staying with more subtle colors, they are more gentle for an eye in my opinion. I could check that on Windows machine, if it has a similar issue.

Oops, currently, just all widgets have the same bg color which is not helpful...
