"I want to make Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks mod compatible with it. How can I change the experience gain conditions to be based on killing with magic instead of regular kills?"

You may want to use an addon Pufferfish's Unofficial Additions which adds experience source for Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks mod.

Why does it give an error in the game when I copy and paste the example from the mod page?

Maybe there is a mistake in that example. Please check the game logs for more details.
