Bridge failed to auto reconnect and won't reconnect when prompted

This is probably related to or the same issue as #26

let's try exponential backoff for reconnect for now.

maybe the only other simplish fix could be to try reconnecting as soon as the bridge notices client activity (to provide the appearance of auto-reconnect bc the user would just see it reconnect as soon as they opened the app)
