Overview

While working through this for Hudl, trying to nail down a decent audit process and template we can use to expedite our audits. I think that our audits are primarily what will get us paying clients.

Operations

This is sort of how I imagine our business running.

1. We create an audit for a company

   • Either by request, maybe charge x $ for the audit.
   • audit has value by itself as they could just take it and have their devs do it.
   • We do cold leads by auditing a company, submitting it to them and hoping they hire us

2. We create a detailed document tailored for their use case, projects, and solutions.

3. They hire us and we work with their team to implement solutions.

4. We track the changes for a while (6m?) and observe what impact the changes made

5. Submit final report to company explaining what the performance gain did for their bottom line.

Audit Process

• Run some existing tools against their site
  • PageSpeed Insights
  • Lighthouse
• Load up their site and look into the timeline to identify quick wins
• Get access to their analytics and current income if possible to do projections
• Create a detailed audit

The audit should include the following:

• current score (could be lighthouse, or our own)
• estimated $ they are losing from poor perf
• estimated $ we think we can earn them through optimizations
• pretty graphs and shit

If hired

we create a very detailed audit with an entire plan and what each step will do to reduce page load time or increase the user experience.

• quick wins (reduce js size)
• harder wins (re-architect)
• extra wins (i.e., SW)
