I've turned on "Show local files" Gave MediaStore permission, some folders show up (maybe it should request access to all files in the future?) Selected folders to show (from Memories settings) Result: No local images show up in the timeline

realme 7 (RMX2155), Android 12 with realme UI v3.0, kernel 4.14.186+

  1. Are these already uploaded? Duplicates aren't shown.
  2. Did you give the permission through the memories app (with the "grant" button) or the settings page of the native app?

  1. They aren't uploaded.
  2. I allowed from the dialog during the initial setup, and also checked from my device's settings app later

Interesting. Did allowing it during the initial setup not automatically flip it on in settings?

Screenshot_2023-10-07-20-13-42-24_ddae4bd2ce634a973daa4ece02bd3734 And I see this in settings, so I guess it can access media files

Hmm seems like a device specific issue. Probably need some way to send reports. Just to try something, you could try reinstalling the app and/or a different device.

@aronkvh Are you by chance using GrapheneOS? I've noticed that if I'm using the 'storage scopes' feature of GrapheneOS, then those storage locations are not discovered by the mobile app.

pulsejet commented 10 months ago

@aronkvh it's possible that the photos are at a wrong date. Can you try something like setting the timeline to an empty folder and see if they show up somewhere (or make an account with no photos and try with that)? That should help fix this.

Some local photos showed up since I reinstalled, but only from before 2022. It seems to be a device related issue, because it worked on two other, xiaomi and pixel devices
