meta descriptions

• should be 150 – 160 characters long
• search engines do not penalize for longer description, but they only display the first 160 characters in search results
• no two pages should share the same meta description

h1s

• there should be exactly one h1 on every page
• no two pages should share the same h1

duplicated content

• no two pages should share more than 85% of the content, as these are considered duplicate pages
• search engines may penalize, assuming folks are trying to break their systems

links

• links should not be broken
• links should always contain descriptive text
• urls should not contain underscores

images

• should have alt text, or have a role of presentation to indicate its decorative
