On metacpan.org CPAN authors can tell in their profile what is their Twitter account.

It would be useful to use that information in the message. This would make it easier to discover fellow CPAN authors on Twitter.

Before:

Config-Model-LcdProc 2.040 by DDUMONT - http://metacpan.org/release/DDUMONT/Config-Model-LcdProc-2.040/ …

After:

Config-Model-LcdProc 2.040 by DDUMONT/@dod38fr - http://metacpan.org/release/DDUMONT/Config-Model-LcdProc-2.040/ …

PS: Thanks for this very useful service!

No tuits for this right now, but it is a good idea.

I linke this idea but I think there should be an easy way to optionally opt out from this feature. I can imagine a person how added his twitter account to metacpan site, but don't want to get a twitter mention every time he posts a tweet.

Byt the way, does metacpan validates the twitter account? It is possible to add not your twitter username to you metacpan profile?

The CPAN author would only get a mention every time he/she makes a CPAN release. This gives him/her the opportunity to retweet it to his/her audience.

No.

It is possible to add not your twitter username to you metacpan profile?

You mean attaching the Twitter account of someone else to your MetaCPAN profile? Yes people could do nasty things. But then, to really annoy the Twitter account with notifications, he/she would have to make a lot of CPAN releases.
