DO NOT MERGE

I feel like I'm doing more harm than good by creating these "after the fact" datastructures like the struct just for my purposes. I need to think about this. PR made so you could check out the code.

@trlinkin I'd like to at least review the merge conflict as github displays it (does it display them now?) Can I have write access? I won't actually resolve it.

Looks like there's no overlap with the work you've been doing at least.

I merged the gitignore, now we have conflicts!
