The README file is auto generated by a tool called docgen which ships with the purescript distribution from Hackage. Changing the file here would have no effect in the long run since it would just be replaced next time the API changed. We would do better to change the docgen tool itself, but we would ideally do so in a way which used regular Markdown, not GitHub-flavoured Markdown.
