Tuneout - Using iTunes + Spotify #24

Thanks for making this amazing tool - I downloaded and installed Tuneout based on the provided instructions, but am having trouble getting the tool to work within OBS across both iTunes and Spotify:

Summary: everything on iTunes side is working, however cannot generate song text data via Spotify.

(via https://github.com/dzomb/tuneout): "It'll ask you to select a text file, but the first time you run it, just type in a name that doesn't already exist, and just use that same file every time. You can then add that text file to OBS and, when iTunes (or any other Music player - just change where it says "iTunes" to the name of the player, like "Spotify") is playing music the file will have the text in it. Also make sure iTunes is running." - tried to find where it says iTunes, no luck.

Looking for any insight you may have here - really enjoy using Tuneout so hopefully can find a solution. appreciate the time!

Ideally, I'd like to use both iTunes and Spotify, but if thats not viable I would at least like to switch the 'default' to Spotify (currently it seems to be functioning properly for only iTunes)

np.txt should automatically contain the info for Spotify if the program is working correctly. It's been about 5 years since I last actively maintained this software, and it's possible some code on Spotify's side has changed. While I'm no longer actively maintaining this software, I'm happy to accept pull requests that fix the issue.

Hey Ruth,

Appreciate the response! Understood that you are no longer supporting this software, but if possible, would love to resolve this issue - not sure what you mean exactly by 'pull requests '(first time on GitHub), but let me know if there is anything I can provide that may be helpful towards a resolution. Let me know your thoughts (no worries if you cannot work on this) - appreciate your time and effort here!

This seems to be a decent resource on this if you’ve never contributed to a project on GitHub before:
