When creating a new Pushkin project using the CLI, the basic template does not create a .gitignore file in the top-level directory. This causes the node_modules folder to be automatically added to Git in the experiments folders as well as others.
I'll look into this later, need to understand how the templates are created first, then I'll create a fix.
