Problem creating new states with dots in their names

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Create a new exploration, go to a state and a rule in that state and try to 
edit the destination of that rule to something that contains a full stop ("."). 
It will not be possible to create a new state in this way. It is still possible 
to create states with such names through the state graph, and to assign them as 
destinations once they have been created.

This problem did not exist in the old rule editor, so I presume it is a 
consequence of using the new type of state-selector.
