How close is this to the original nanoid project?

Is this an exact port of the JS nanoid project? If not, what differs?

Depends on what you mean by exact, because JS and python have different usage patterns and interfaces. The algorithm is an exact port.

The common things are:

• we provide the same secure random generation algorithm
• we provide a non-secure random version

The differences:

• we don't have async requirements id generation in python, e.g. in JS, these are for react.
