There are many RTL8761BU adapters. The FW in RTL8761BU is loaded by the system, and it makes no sense to look at the label on the adapter. The downloadable FW in RTL8761BU has long supported Bluetooth 5.1.
The reception level without mass dropouts for the LE Long Range
at RTL8761BU is up to -108 dBm.
The adapter with RTL8761BU without an external antenna has mediocre reception from thermometers in LE Long Range
for distances in a straight line without obstacles of more than 200 meters.
But RTL8761BU does not work well with a large number of BLE devices due to the low speed of USB - USB 2.0 FS.
Since I have a lot of BLE devices (more than 30 active, processed in HA), I use 2 USB-BT adapters.
One for reception with Legacy
(BT4.2 with USB 2.0 HS) and the other for working with LE Long Range
devices.
Thank you! I think any RTL8761BU adapter should fit my needs for now.
Orange Pi 3 lts, Pi 5, ... have already been adjusted and are working with the LE Long Range
.
Are there any specific, preferably cheap bt 5.0+ usb dongles you would recommend to use with this firmware + LYWSD03MMC? Or should I just choose something from here https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/bluetooth#realtek-rtl8761bu-adapters
Thanks!
