Option to use the old (rectangle) text selection

Any chance you can add an option to use the old (rectangle) based text selection? It's very useful when you give a presentation with images / formulae. The text selection doesn't always select what you highlighed. The rectangle does (it copies the wrong text, but that doesn't matter when you're giving a presentation).

This might be a true spacebar heating moment - but here it goes:

As much as I love the new text selection, I sometimes used the old selection rectangle to confirm something visually aligns on a PDF slide (made with LaTeX), to spot issues like this:

So for me, it'd be amazing if one could use the old selection while e.g. holding shift or ctrl when dragging the mouse. I do realize this is somewhat of an exotic use-case, though.

I'm not sure it's exotic. I used it frequently when presenting over Zoom during the pandemic. It's also a feature in pdfpc, so there must be some people using it.

I wouldn't lobby hard for it to be implemented, but it's sad that it was present and was then removed.
