WLR_BACKENDS set to headless. As this seems to be a wlroots property, I'd guess you can use any wlroots based compositor, not just sway
Any other compositor that provides a headless interface (like weston with --backend=headless). And then launch a program like this: env WAYLAND_DISPLAY=wl-test-env wayland-info
In
tests/meson.build

From reading https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/653672/virtual-wayland-display-server-possible it seems there are a number of options:
WLR_BACKENDS
set toheadless
. As this seems to be a wlroots property, I'd guess you can use any wlroots based compositor, not justsway
weston
with--backend=headless
). And then launch a program like this:env WAYLAND_DISPLAY=wl-test-env wayland-info
