Create a plug that looks just like a power outlet that takes the actual wires for installation. The sockets should also supply power. In addition...have it utilize the power lines within the building to talk to other plugs so that you could do the following:
Infiltrate the target's floor
Install Covert outlet plug
Go to another room in the building (something you can be in without question) and plugin counterpart plug
Plugin and start cracking! :-)
What I envision:
There are power plugs that also have Ethernet cords which would give you immediate network access and would be Extremely hard to detect (when was the last time you saw facilities removing the outlets to verify they are what they are?)
The covert plug only needs to be an endpoint that converts connects Ethernet into the electrical lines and allows you to transmit the network throughout the building and another node can actually be the power house/computation component.
The power outlet should use an encrypted tunnel to the other device and should be configurable.
Why!?
It is common for most plugs to just be in plain sight. That doesn't help. In large buildings no one cares if you sit in the coffee shop in the lobby and jack-in. You can be in the lobby and accessing the network on the 34th floor or something.
