I stretched my coding skills (if yes what did you learn?): ["pygame" is new to me; so this has been a fun learning task.
I initially wrote the code as a plain, virtually procedural, piece of code; but developed it into the pygame gui. Finally I refactored the whole thing into a set of classes.
Still room for improvement, but I'm fairly pleased with this result.]
