Do you have someone negotiating for conference room blocks?
I think we're going to pass on room blocks this time, unless you've got any friendly contacts. Give the very small number of rooms we'd feel safe committing to, I don't think we'd get too much interest from hotels. Having said that, I'll give the Metropolitan a call to sound them out and be sure.

I'm asking around at work to see if anyone has advice for this. (I work at an online travel company, so people might have ideas, perhaps). And Carl will ask our friend who runs an event management service -- they've done pycon in the us for the past few years.
Maybe they'll have an idea on how many roomnights is worth the trouble.

I am more thinking they will know what to ask for. roomnights is only one option. pretty sure commission is always an option, and pretty much free money, no risk. (That's how we roll here in Amirka.... lmao ) Seriously, commissions.
