Volume changes on its own while playing #312

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. open a movie or audio file
2. play
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

i expect volume remains constant. instead, after about ten seconds, i hear
(and in fedora's volume control i see) the volume goin' down, for about
twenty seconds, and then it stays down.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

fedora 11
$ rpm -q gnome-mplayer
gnome-mplayer-0.9.8-1.fc11.i586

Please provide any additional information below.

i saw this happen on two different machines ( different as in hardware, but
same f11 and same admin :) )
also, once was a movie file, and second time was a big audio file.

i repeated the play attempt several times, and the problem was the same
every time.
thank you.
