Fullscreen flicker while the control bar retracts

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. open movie in fullscreen
2. wait a bit for the control bar to retract
3. the screen is flickering while the control bar restracts

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
gnome-mplayer 0.9.8 on Linux x86-64

Please provide any additional information below.
I think it would be better to cut the retraction animation completely, and
just hide the bar.
