I couldn't figure out why my Jekyll site was coming out completely blank, until I realized that trying to use Pygments killed the task (but in a way that nothing was reported as having gone wrong). Once I realized I needed Python and installed it, everything worked fine. But an error message of some kind would have saved me quite a bit of time.
