Sipdroid basically quits in background when wifi drops #300

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Sipdroid, register via PBXes.org
2. Configure Sipdroid to only use Wifi, not 3G or EDGE
3. Override Sipdroid's meddling in wifi sleep policy - go to Wifi Settings,
advanced, sleep policy - change to "Never when plugged in". Carry out 4 and
5 with the phone not plugged in.
4. Lock screen and allow phone to sleep. Wait long enough that wifi drops.
5. Unlock screen and allow to reconnect to wifi.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: Sipdroid should lose registration when wifi drops, and then
re-register when wifi reconnects. I prefer to do it this way because I
don't tend to use Sipdroid for unsolicited inbound calls; I just want it to
be available when I'm on wifi.

Actual result: When I unlock the phone after wifi sleeps, Sipdroid is gone.
There is no coloured light in the status bar anymore, nor is Sipdroid in
the notifications tray. According to Astro's task manager Sipdroid is still
running in the background. But it fails to reconnect until I manually open
Sipdroid again.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.3.7 beta on Nexus One, Android 2.1

Which SIP server are you using? What happens with PBXes?
Already using PBXes.org.

Which type of network are you using?
Wifi and Fido EDGE

Please provide any additional information below.
I did not experience this issue in at least one prior version although I
cannot recall which.

Update: Overnight I left my phone charging with Sipdroid running in the
background.
Under these circumstances wi-fi should have stayed on (as I'm set to never
sleep wifi
when plugged in). However I woke up to find that Sipdroid had again quit
overnight.

So I'm wondering if this is not even about wifi dropping during sleep. Sipdroid
is
simply quitting after the phone has slept for a certain amount of time.

Same problem with the 1.3.7 beta on Androind 2.1 (Open Eclair) running on
MyTouch.
Same "never sleep" advanced setting for WiFi, same results (sipdroid
disappearing from
the system tray).

The merge into issue 86 does not make sense with me. Issue 86 has to do with
Sipdroid
aggressively notifying the user in the background. This issue 300 has to do with
Sipdroid dying when it has not been asked to quit. How are they the same issue?
