This template should be used (edited) the month prior and during the meeting. This will ensure we can address all topics added throughout the month; as well as provide minutes and follow up after the meeting is held.

PyLadies Global Meeting

Agenda

Project Updates

  1. Project Comms (Slack: #project-communication / Repo: https://github.com/pyladies/project-communications)

    • they would like to recruit new members to help with the daily posts
    • juliana has put together some artwork to announce the global council
  2. Project Admin & Logistics (Slack: #project-admin-logistics / Repo: https://github.com/pyladies/project-admin-logisitics )

  1. Project Tech & Infra (Slack: #project-tech-infra / Repo: https://github.com/pyladies/pyladies)
    • We've run out of Heroku credits (we were given enough for 3 years), and apparently they are re-evaluating their sponsorship model. So in the mean time, we have to pay ~$15/month. The PSF is in a similar situation (not sure what they use Heroku for but they use to sponsor the PSF and now it's on hold). It'd be pretty cumbersome to move folks from this platform to another that could potentially sponsor us, but I'd rather wait and see for a bit before doing anything drastic.
  1. Code of Conduct

    • They have agreed the we will use the PSF code of conduct workflow
    • They need to go through the website to make sure that we have links to the PSF etc.
  2. Finance (Repo: https://github.com/pyladies/project-finance)

    • Bethany met with Bevy, unfortunately they are not interested in giving pyladies anything for free. They would like to sign a contract with the PSF.
    • They're focus is on site building, sites such as (girldevelopit)
    • they are able to help with community management with the event pages etc.
    • there is free support from their community 'package'
    • contact @Mariatta to discuss our findings
  3. Slack Moderators

    • there has been no more incidents where they need to respond to anything and make policy
    • Bethany will go ahead and define some guidelines, or adding links to PSF CoC
  4. Data ( Repo: https://github.com/pyladies/project-data )

    • we're finishing the last section (ethnic, geographic and cultural identity) of the pyladies survey
  5. Resources

    • No updates
  6. Community Liaison

    • Jessica is away

Saw the comment about bevy and contract. From my perspective, seems fair to have a contract. Is there something specific in the contract itself that is problematic? Is this something we should discuss with the PSF?

BethanyG commented 3 years ago

@Mariatta - We're not at a contract stage with Bevy (yet). They were going to meet with the PSF, since they were previously discussing possibly powering PyCon and other conferences and activities, and then circle back with PyLadies around possibly powering community sites/ events pages.

Hi, everyone! Why is the election on hold? I remember by this time last year we were working on the election documents, the process was voted and decided together with the communities (https://github.com/pyladies/global-organizing/issues/32) and I'd like to know how things are going to proceed, since some terms (the ones with 1 year commitment) finish now

lorenanicole commented 3 years ago

It would only be for appointed seats as elected seats are a multi year appointment. As I can tell from reading the issues it sounds like this may be due to the group having just started and wanting more time to continue to work?

MmeMarieLouise commented 3 years ago

Thanks @lorenanicole 😊 ! @deboraazevedo yes, it's only on hold for the appointed seats. It has been a difficult year due to the pandemic and as a team we have agreed that it would be best to lay a solid foundation before we can introduce new members. If you would like to have a chat about this, please get in touch. Thanks !
