Request for Permission to Sell PyLadies Logo Stickers at PyCon KR #80

Hello from PyLadies Seoul!

We're excited to have a booth at PyCon KR on October 26-27, 2024. We'd like to sell stickers featuring logos of various PyLadies chapters, with all proceeds going to support PyLadies Seoul's activities. We'll contact each chapter for permission to use their logo. However, we wanted to check if it's okay to sell stickers using the PyLadies logo in general. Could you please let us know if this aligns with PyLadies' guidelines? We're happy to provide more information if needed. Thank you for your help!

Best regards, PyLadies Seoul Organizers

Hi @cksleigen thanks for reaching out. I have forwarded your question to PSF Accounting team who will be able to provide guidance about this.

Hi, @cksleigen,

Because PyLadies (and therefore, PyLadies Seoul) is a fiscal sponsoree of Python Software Foundation, we’d like to share recommendations and ideas for your sticker sale idea. Please let me know if you’d like to connect on Slack (I’m Phyllis Dobbs-PSF) or email (accounting@python.org] to discuss these options further!

First, the PSF can work with you to set up a donation page similar to PyLadies Chicago to collect proceeds of sticker sales at PyCon KR. Basically, we’d update the logo, About, and suggested donation levels.

Next, you all can create a QR code linking to the new donation page and post it at your booth; this means you all don’t have to handle cash or other types of payments. It is a good idea to set a suggested donation at least 30% higher than the cost of the stickers so you’ll recover costs and earn donations. All of the payments would go into a dedicated account for PyLadies Seoul. The PSF can either issue one of the organizers a virtual Visa card to pay for the stickers or we can reimburse the organizer for the cost of stickers after you all estimate the costs.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hey @cksleigen ! To add onto what @PhyllisDobbs has said: Regarding the use of the logo/trademark (according to our policy), we appreciate you asking, and we're okay with you using the general PyLadies logo in order to create and sell stickers to specifically support PyLadies Seoul's activities. We highly encourage you to reach out to the other chapters if you wish to use their respective derived PyLadies logos for similar purposes. I want to reiterate: we're only approving this for fundraising for your chapter's use (not to make a profit off of).
