Convert reStructuredText to Markdown #25

This PR enables use of Markdown instead of rST. Changes include:

bump pelican to latest stable and install Markdown
convert content pages from rST to md files
correct images in Markdown to use html so the text flows around the image as it does now
update README with instructions for make

This PR should be merged after all prior PRs as it builds upon them. Thanks!
