Contributing Guide Error: #813

It seems like there is some mismatch between the instructions in the contributing guide and the make files:

I installed the dev environment and then tried running the make init call

I'm trying it again with a fresh install.

I wasn't getting any issues with my previous environment. I'm also using micromamba instead. Not sure if that would have an effect on python version then?

I am using pip 0.24 and the installed python 3.10.14 This new install also worked for me.

Any luck with this? @NathanielF
