pages option is deprecated in mkdocs; replaced with newer nav option
replaced theme_dir with built-in mkdocs theme, since they appear to be the same and this simplifies future maintenance as well as allows built-in usage of new google analytics v4 which will be required this year
moved favicon.ico into src/img as it will be auto-found by the mkdocs builder
updated GHA workflow to use checkout v3 as checkout v2 uses an outdated runtime node
