Hello @masalim2, I have started the reachability process for your request, hopefully we will hear back from the owner soon and proceed with the transfer.
Hello @masalim2,
This is the owner of the package. The balsam package is still in use in some older projects at https://greenhousegroup.com/en, however, we are obviously not actively developing it anymore. I can publish it under a different name, to free up the balsam name, within a week or two.
Hello @masalim2. Could you please acknowledge the previous message? It is some effort to move the names, so I'd like to have some confirmation that this is still important to you.
Hi @bartfrenk,
Thanks very much for looking into this! Yes, my team would still absolutely benefit from the name change and really appreciate the re-publication.
Thanks for replying @bartfrenk, closing as contact has been made.
@masalim2 I have just deleted the balsam package. The name should be available now.
Thank you so much for your help!

The
balsam
project on PyPI has not had a release in over 2 years (since June 27 2019) and the corresponding Gitlab repository does not show activity since then, either. My colleagues and I have attempted to reach out to the author on 3 occasions and received no response. Our hope is to use the
balsam
PyPI project to distribute the Balsam workflow manager that's actively developed and maintained by research scientists at Argonne National Laboratory. Our project is widely used by a community of HPC researchers at Argonne and on other supercomputers around the world, and our goal is to make the distribution process less confusing by having the package namebalsam
aligned with the PyPI project name. We've been developing Balsam since 2014 as a job management system. As a stopgap, we have been distributing our project asbalsam-flow
on PyPI but we are hoping to migrate this to thebalsam
name.Maintenance or replacement?

We have not received a response after three attempts to reach the maintainer at the email address listed on the project page:
