Open nightlark opened 1 year ago
It's been nearly 7 months since the initial PEP541 request, and I have yet to receive a response (@menduo if you see this, it would be great if you could respond). I've just sent the package owner another email; my original email that was sent nearly 11 months ago, and the follow-up email in July have received no reply.
Hi @nightlark,
It looks like the original project owner has made some recent updates to their package since your request. Per PEP 541 guidelines, since this project isn't abandoned, we suggest using an alternative name for your project. Let us know how you would like to proceed.
Project to be claimed
golang
: https://pypi.org/project/golangYour PyPI username
rmast
: https://pypi.org/user/rmastReasons for the request
The current golang package on PyPI has no functionality and appears to be name squatting since the initial package upload around 2019, making it an invalid project according to the criteria on https://peps.python.org/pep-0541/#invalid-projects
In addition, the linked GitHub project on the package page (https://github.com/menduo/golang) does not exist, and the owner has not responded to emails so the project may be abandoned.
Maintenance or replacement?
Replacement
Source code repositories URLs
The code repository for the current project is supposed to be at https://github.com/menduo/golang but is inaccessible.
The repository for the replacement is https://github.com/nightlark/golang-wheel
Contact and additional research
Attempts to contact the package owner by using their listed email (shimenduo@gmail.com) requesting transfer of the
golang
PyPI project on March 13, 2023 and a follow up email was sent on July 7, 2023. No response to either email was received. An email was also sent today informing them about this PEP 541 request, along with a link to this issue.@menduo -- tagging you here in case you are active on GitHub or have additional email addresses set up to receive notifications from GitHub. I'd still be happy to talk about transferring ownership of the package outside of a PEP 541 request, but currently there doesn't appear to be any way to reach you.
