Reasons for the request

I'm a member of the engineering team at Zamzar Ltd, and we would like to replace the existing zamzar package with an officially supported, feature complete Python SDK for the Zamzar API. We already publish existing equivalent SDKs for Java and PHP (with more languages to be launched soon).

The existing zamzar package is a script that performs file conversions via the Zamzar API. The existing project has a number of issues:

it has no homepage, documentation or issue tracker.
it targets only the "sandbox" environment of our API product (and therefore conversions performed via this script are very limited; e.g. maximum file size of 1MB; very stringent rate limits; etc).
it does not support many of the features of our API product (e.g., importing and exporting files to S3; supplying options to custom conversions; monitoring credit usage; etc).
it is a script (application) not a library, and it is therefore perhaps unexpected that the package might have the name of a product

We do not believe a fork under a different name is appropriate, because PyPi users searching for our API SDK are likely to believe that any package named zamzar is our official SDK. PyPi packages named after developer products are often the official SDK; see for example: stripe, openai and twilio.

We believe that the existing package has been abandoned because:

It has only received 2 releases. Both were in Sept 2023, and no further changes have been published since.
We observe no requests into our API that could have originated from this code for the past 30 days.
The sole maintainer has not responded to our attempts to contact them (see details below).

There is no source code repository for the existing package:

The link from the PyPi package is to a sample PyPi project (here).
There are no hits on Github when searching for fragments of the code contained in the published script.

Contact and additional research

The PyPi package lists a single maintainer with the email address tongjinxin2011@qq.com.

We have attempted to contact the maintainer twice: once on 23rd April and once on 29th April with no reply. Our correspondence was in English and Mandarin. (The source code for the package contained some Mandarin string literals).

Hi @di, it's now been 6 weeks without any correspondence from the existing owner, and the package seems to be abandoned. Please could the name be released so that we can publish our official API SDK as a replacement?
